Growing up, Blaze was genuinely good-natured and spent his days helping people out. His childhood friend, though, was the opposite—constantly causing problems for everyone around them. Blaze tried his best to turn his friend around, but got played for it. His friend torched a windmill hut right in front of him, and when the villagers showed up, they blamed Blaze instead. Turns out they never really believed he was a good person to begin with; they figured he'd just been putting on an act.
That betrayal stuck with him. Blaze came away from it convinced that once people decide you're bad, nothing you do matters—all your good deeds just get erased from memory. It messed him up enough that he made a dark choice: if people were going to treat him like a villain anyway, he'd become one. Not just bad, but the worst person in the world.
