Kai Chisaki is the leader of the Eight Precepts of Death and a major villain in the series.
His quirk, Overhaul, manifested during childhood and catastrophically injured his parents—leaving him orphaned. The old boss of the Shie Hassaikai took him in, and Chisaki never forgot that debt. But the trauma of his quirk's awakening warped him. He developed a pathological hatred of quirks themselves, viewing them as genetic corruption that destroyed his life. This psychological damage is visceral: he breaks out in hives whenever anyone touches him, a condition he frames as an obsession with germs and contamination, though it's clearly rooted in something deeper.
Chisaki's goals are ambitious and interconnected. He wants to eradicate quirks entirely and return humanity to a quirkless state. He wants to repay his debt to the boss by becoming the head of organized crime. And most pressingly, he believes Eri—the boss's granddaughter—holds the key to everything. Her Rewind quirk, combined with his Overhaul, could theoretically accomplish the impossible. So he uses her as a tool, ruthlessly pursuing his vision.
When Deku and his allies finally confront him, Chisaki unravels. The more he's cornered, touched, and thwarted, the less human he becomes. By the end of their conflict, he's transformed into exactly what the yakuza world tries to avoid: a feral, power-obsessed monster driven by desperation rather than reason.
