Iou is a medical-nin from the Leaf Village. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he worked in the Logistic Support and Medical Division, where he got caught up in one of the mission's more intense moments.
When casualties piled up and the KIA scroll went missing—a scroll containing sealed corpses of shinobi with kekkei genkai and other rare abilities—Iou was sent to retrieve it alongside Yokaze, Sakura Haruno, and Yugao Uzuki. He held his own against the enemy nin from both Sand and Cloud, but his fight with Hayate Gekkou left him badly injured. Sakura patched him up, though he couldn't push through to help finish the mission. His three teammates managed to seal away all three target shinobi anyway, and the mission wrapped up successfully.
