Catherine
Catherine comes from an obscure aristocratic vampire family, so when Marquis Machina threw his famous Bal Masque, she and her mother and younger sister all got invitations. It was at this event that she first met Vanitas, though she didn't know much about him at the time. She'd eventually learn that he's actually human—a doctor working to cure vampires afflicted by the curse of Vanitas of the Blue Moon. His whole crusade, it turns out, is basically an elaborate revenge plot against the Blue Moon Vampire himself.
