Karui is a kunoichi from Kumogakure and part of Team Samui, sent to Konoha by the Fourth Raikage alongside her teammates to coordinate efforts against Sasuke Uchiha and Akatsuki. She and Omoi are both students of Killer Bee, whom they deeply respect.
She's best known for her hot-headed personality—quick to get angry and just as quick to let everyone know about it. When Team Kakashi refused to hunt down the renegade Sasuke, Karui didn't hold back, eventually beating the frustration out of Naruto hard enough to draw blood. Her emotional outbursts are kind of her thing.
Karui and Omoi have a playfully antagonistic dynamic that dates back to their first appearance, when they bickered over why the Raikage had summoned them. Omoi made some crack about her being flat-chested compared to Samui, which she obviously didn't appreciate. Still, they work seamlessly together in combat, pulling off synchronized sword attacks with impressive precision.
Fighting-wise, she's a swordsmanship specialist with serious physical strength. She and Omoi coordinate their blade work in slick, coordinated combos that make them an effective pair despite their constant banter.
Her name, "Karui," means "light" or "non-serious"—a deliberate contrast to Omoi's heavier, more serious name.
