Satou Toshiya is one of the main characters of *Major*, following his journey from a shy five-year-old kid who meets Honda Goro and gets introduced to baseball, all the way to becoming a professional player. Born September 9, he goes by the nickname Toshi.
As a catcher, Toshiya grows into a serious and intelligent player with genuine passion for the game. Off the field, he's warm and values his friends deeply—he respects Goro's abilities without overestimating them. But on the field, he's a completely different person: cold, manipulative, and genuinely difficult to face as an opponent. Teammates, though, know he's completely reliable.
Toshiya's main weakness is overthinking things, which occasionally sends him into depressive spirals. It's basically the opposite of how Goro operates, which actually makes them a great battery when they do team up—their personalities balance each other out. That said, for most of the series they're rivals more than teammates, constantly facing off against each other.
