Shimajio is an eccentric old man and one of the leaders of the Meowth clan on Golden Island, appearing in the episode "Meowth Rules!" He's best known for his unwavering devotion to Meowth, whom he worshipped with the belief that the Pokémon could bring wealth to his village through the move Pay Day.
The problem? Meowth didn't actually know Pay Day. Determined to make it work, Shimajio pushed Meowth into battles against a Nidoking and an Onix to help it gain experience and learn the move. When that didn't pan out, Jessie and James saved the day by literally throwing coins during a battle to create the illusion that Meowth had finally mastered Pay Day. Impressed and convinced, Shimajio wanted Meowth to become the village's ruler—but Meowth had other priorities and chose to stick with its Team Rocket companions instead.
