Yukiya is a first-year at Shinju High School who's been stuck in an ongoing "I love you" game with his childhood friend Miku for the past four years—which is basically a long, drawn-out confession he hasn't quite managed to commit to. He's clearly got it bad for her.
He's genuinely into anime, games, and manga, but he's also put serious effort into leveling up his appearance because he's convinced that's what it'll take to actually win her over. Under all that, though, he's pretty insecure. He worries he's not cool or interesting enough, that she'll eventually realize she could do better. At his core, though, he just wants Miku to be happy—which kind of says everything you need to know about the guy.
What does he actually love about her? Pretty much everything: her smile, her voice, how genuinely kind she is, her cheerful energy. He's also weirdly into the moments when she acts a bit more mature or motherly, like she's looking out for him.
School-wise, math comes naturally to him, but gym class is basically his nightmare. He's somehow weirdly talented with his hands—like, he can braid Wakana's hair without thinking—and he's annoyingly good at arguing, probably because he overthinks everything. His go-to foods are udon and quail eggs, though he can't stand onions. His main hobbies are Squidtoon, Cosmo Connect, and whatever other video games he can get his hands on.
