A former smuggler and gambler with a talent for getting into—and out of—tight spots, he owned the Millennium Falcon before losing it to Han Solo in a game of sabacc. He eventually found legitimacy as Baron Administrator of Cloud City on Bespin, though that didn't last long once the Empire moved in. Forced to choose sides, he joined the Rebellion and flew back into action piloting the Falcon alongside Wedge Antilles. During the Battle of Endor, the two of them took the fight directly to Death Star II, flying the ship into the station's core and destroying it. It was the kind of reckless move that defined his whole life—the sort of gamble that somehow always seemed to pay off.
