Kyouko
Kyouko is a hardened veteran magical girl who shows up partway through the story. She's got long red hair and an equally fiery temperament—the kind of person who'll argue about almost anything. She's perpetually snacking, even during fights, which honestly fits her character perfectly.
Coming from a dirt-poor background shaped her worldview considerably. She steals food out of necessity, despises waste in any form, and extends that same philosophy to Grief Seeds; she hunts only fully-matured witches rather than going after every target. It's practical, really—why waste energy on small fry?
Her experience as a magical girl far outpaces everyone else's, and it shows in her combat skills. Her weapon is a spear that extends at will, splits into segments, and can sprout a weighted ball on a chain for both constriction and bludgeoning attacks. Beyond that, she can conjure barriers—useful for shielding allies or keeping people out of her way when she needs space.
She and Sayaka start off butting heads constantly, but that changes once Kyouko learns what Soul Gems actually are. The revelation hits something in her, and she shifts toward trying to genuinely help Sayaka navigate what being a magical girl really means—not the clean, heroic version they're sold, but the real thing.
