Karasu was a lower B Class demon and member of Team Toguro in the Dark Tournament. He's best known for being a demon bomber—capable of detonating objects without touching them and crafting his own explosives, from winged bombs to massive dynamite crates. His most devastating ability emerged when he removed his mask; his hair would shift from black to blond, and he'd unleash a full-body explosion powerful enough to wipe out large groups of humans.
Not much is known about Karasu's actual personality. He remained perpetually calm and serious throughout the tournament, always keeping his true self hidden behind both his mask and his composed demeanor. His primary goal was to claim Kurama's head as a trophy.
Karasu and Bui had previously fought the Toguro brothers and lost. The brothers offered them a rematch if they joined forces, which convinced both demons to sign on.
Before the Final Rounds kicked off, Karasu and Kurama crossed paths in an alley. Karasu won that encounter decisively. During their official match in the Finals, Karasu nearly ended it fast—only a potion from Suzuka saved Kurama's life and transformed him into his Youko form. With his power dramatically increased, Kurama gained control and had a massive plant devour Karasu. But Karasu detonated from inside it and hit Kurama with his full-body explosion, reverting him back to human. From there, Karasu dominated, nearly finishing Kurama off. In a last-ditch effort, Kurama stabbed Karasu's heart with a Vampire Plant, killing him—though the win didn't count since Kurama attacked from his knees and ran out of time.
Fans noted Karasu's popularity: he placed 8th in Japan's second Character Popularity Poll with 698 votes, making him the most beloved member of Team Toguro.
