Suiren was a kunoichi from Kirigakure who died a decade before the Allied Shinobi Forces formed. She's best remembered for sacrificing herself during a mission that went catastrophically wrong—an event that would later be called the Tragedy of Yosuga Pass.
The mission itself seemed straightforward enough. Suiren was part of Ganryū's team, working alongside shinobi from Iwagakure to recover a scroll that Kumogakure had stolen. When they successfully retrieved it, Suiren was genuinely hopeful. She openly talked about what a peace between Kirigakure and Iwagakure could mean for the entire shinobi world. That optimism didn't last. Iwagakure turned on them without warning, and when their teammate Junsai was killed, Suiren made the choice to protect Ganryū, sacrificing herself in the process. Her death marked the beginning of open hostility between the two villages.
