Ranta is the Dread Knight in Haruhiro's party, best known for being loud, crude, and basically insufferable—at least on the surface. He's constantly making obnoxious comments at the girls' expense and generally acting like someone nobody particularly wants around. The rest of the party, Haruhiro included, sees him as a self-absorbed nuisance who seems completely oblivious to how annoying he actually is.
Except he's not, really. It turns out Ranta knows exactly what he's doing. He deliberately made himself the target of everyone's frustration, banking on the fact that having a common enemy—him—would help hold the group together. Whether that's actually noble or just manipulative depends on how you look at it.
Physically, Ranta's lean and wiry rather than bulky, with deep red-auburn hair, reddish-brown eyes, and a smirk that's basically glued to his face. As the party's secondary tank, he relies on light armor and smart positioning rather than brute defense. He uses his weapon's reach and the terrain to keep himself out of harm's way while landing strikes of his own—a hit-and-run approach that works better than you'd expect for a second-line fighter.
