Peter Quill was born under a rare planetary alignment—the kind of cosmic coincidence that seems too perfect for a superhero origin story. His father couldn't get past it. Convinced the kid wasn't his, he tried to kill the newborn in a rage, but died of a heart attack before he could do anything. Quill's mother Meredith raised him alone after that.
