Mio's older sister and guardian, Maria takes her protective role seriously—she'll defend Mio against pretty much anything. That said, she's got a pretty childish streak and loves messing with people, even when things are genuinely tense. She doesn't always read the room, basically. That said, she's perfectly capable of dropping the act when it matters. Fans have noted her ability to get serious (like when she revealed her true identity to Basara), which shows there's more depth beneath all the teasing.
