Azumamiya leads Nonohara Kaede, who serves as his attendant and fellow kendo club member. He's widely regarded as the weakest in the club—his strikes are unpredictable and reckless, and he's got a foul mouth to match. Kaede's taken it upon herself to polish his rough edges and turn him into something resembling a proper gentleman. Whenever he finds himself in a tight spot, he doesn't hesitate to call on Kaede to bail him out.
The dynamic between Koutarou and his butler Kaede is a nod to "Mahou Sensei Negima!"
