Jeff Bogard is the adoptive father of Terry and Andy Bogard from the Fatal Fury series, though he only appears as a background character. Not much is known about his age, but he was older than Geese Howard at the time of his death.
Jeff trained under Tung Fu Rue at the secret Hakkyokuseiken school, where he became close friends with fellow students Geese Howard and Cheng Sinzan. The three earned a reputation as the "Three Brothers of Godly Battle" during their time there. When Tung eventually had to choose between his two most talented pupils—Jeff and Geese—to inherit the school's secret techniques, he picked Jeff, having sensed that Geese harbored dark ambitions while Jeff possessed genuine integrity. Geese took this rejection hard and stormed off, vowing revenge against both his former teacher and rival.
In 1981, Jeff returned to the United States with Tung and adopted Terry and Andy as his sons. The family's life together was brutally cut short when Geese's men ambushed them on the street, stabbing Jeff badly. Geese himself finished the job, killing Jeff in front of the young boys. That moment became the defining tragedy of the Bogard brothers' lives—it's what drove them to train across the world in martial arts, all in pursuit of avenging their father's death. To this day, before entering any tournament, the brothers visit his grave to pay their respects.
