Lieutenant Ukyou Samonji
Ukyou Samonji is the serious, stoic commanding officer of the Arandas Army's 8th Autonomous Unit. He comes across as withdrawn and hard to read, but those under his command know his real priority is keeping them alive. That commitment to his soldiers' safety defines him more than his cold demeanor ever could.
Later in the story, Ukyou has a major realization: he admits he's fundamentally the same as Tokimune, and eventually puts him in charge of piloting Argevollen, the unit's experimental mecha.
