Yoshihiro Kira died of cancer before the series even begins, but his death actually awakened his Stand, Atom Heart Father. The ability let him keep existing inside a photograph—basically trapping himself in the picture as a way to survive. From there, he becomes a twisted father figure to his son, actively helping him continue his murders by using the Stand Arrow to create new Stand users. It's one of the series' creepier setups: a dead man pulling strings from inside a photo.
