The main plot kicks off when Zeus recruits her for what amounts to an impossible job: teaching a bunch of warring mythological gods what it actually means to be human, all while getting them to graduate from the Forbidden Academy. Fail, and she's stuck there forever. No pressure.
The gods she's dealing with all have their own takes on her. Apollo's dubbed her "Fairy" because he's obviously into her. On the flip side, Takeru just calls her "weed"—basically his way of saying he can't stand her and wishes she'd disappear. The contrasts between how different gods treat her are part of what makes the whole dynamic work.
