Honoka's main passion is photography—she climbs mountains specifically to shoot landscapes. She's drawn to the outdoors for those visual experiences.
The way Honoka joins the group is pretty typical of how these things happen. Aoi meets her while she's out climbing solo and invites her along. At first, Honoka's pretty reserved and keeps her guard up, but once she gets comfortable with everyone, she loosens up and becomes part of the crew.
