Kido's ability to manipulate shadows emerged when his powers first awakened, prompting him to seek out Master Genkai's training alongside Kaitou and Yana. He learned quite a bit about Yusuke through his time studying under Genkai. His technique is straightforward but effective: if he manages to stand on someone's shadow, he can paralyze them completely.
