Arata's basically a carefree guy with a goofy sense of humor—he'll crack jokes even when things are genuinely dangerous, and he's not shy about teasing people. He's also pretty openly perverted, constantly finding himself in awkward situations or just straight-up confessing his attraction to girls around him.
The big thing driving his story is his cousin and childhood friend Hijiri. They used to live together, but something catastrophic happened to their entire city. Before things fell apart, Hijiri gave him some kind of object, and when Arata realizes she might still be alive, he decides to become a magician. To actually pull it off and save her, he ends up joining forces with the Trinity Seven—a group he needs to work with if he wants to reach the level of a true "Magus."
