Cissy first showed up when Ash rolled into her gym looking for the Coral-Eye Badge. She's known as one of the toughest trainers in the Orange Crew and specializes in Water-type Pokémon—which means challengers have to use Water types too if they want to battle her.
Her gym battles work nothing like what Ash was used to back in Indigo. Instead of a straight-up Pokémon match, trainers face two tests: first, an accuracy challenge where both sides have their Pokémon nail targets with Water Gun, and second, a surfing race around some buoys off the coast. Ash managed to win both and grabbed the badge.
Cissy lives with her younger brother Senta, who's also a trainer and helps her run the gym.
