Jantou ran one of the Fire Country's most upscale gambling establishments alongside his partner Souzu. The two of them made a killing off Tsunade, who showed up at their hall and basically lived up to her "Legendary" reputation as a compulsive gambler—they cleaned her out repeatedly. When Jiraiya came around asking about her whereabouts, Jantou and Souzu were in a position to point him in the right direction.
