Jaina grew up in a small Kazakhstani village and was smart enough to skip ahead in school. When she got the chance to study abroad in America on a government grant, it seemed like her way out—until her own parents and village essentially stole the money meant for her education. She came back with crippling debt and no options, which is basically what forced her into signing up for the Bugs II mission.
Her bug modification uses DNA from the Pachyrhynchus Infernalis Weevil. When she transforms, her arms develop thick, bulletproof armor plating that's one of her main assets in combat.
