Hoopa Confined is a light-purple, humanoid Pokémon with a distinctive look: green eyes with yellow sclera, a yellow ring marking on its forehead, and dark pink hair pulled back in a short ponytail. It's got curved dark gray horns on either side of its head and a V-shaped dark pink marking across its chest. Its most unusual feature is that its arms float freely next to its body rather than being attached. Both arms and shoulders have small golden spikes, and it wears dark pink rings around its wrists like bracelets. Instead of legs, it has a wispy tail. Three gold rings complete the look—one large ring around its lower body and one hanging from each horn.
Hoopa's main thing is its ability to warp space through those gold rings, essentially using them as portals to transport items or grab whatever it wants from anywhere. Fans often note that Hoopa has a mischievous streak and isn't shy about stealing from people if it feels like it, especially if provoked. It supposedly stashes its collected loot in a secret hideaway. There's also the dimension-bending aspect: Pokémon Masters EX even showed Hoopa pulling people and Pokémon from alternate timelines through its portals. Oh, and it apparently loves donuts—the anime and Masters EX have made that pretty clear.
Forms
Hoopa has two forms, and the difference is dramatic. Hoopa Unbound is basically the powered-up version—a massive, bipedal creature with six floating arms. It's mostly light blue with purple fur and hair, including a fuller ponytail held back by two gold rings and a pointed beard. The horns are less curved now and have spiky purple hair around their bases, each decorated with three gold rings. It's got yellow eyes, a dark gray nose, prominent fangs, and that signature ring marking on its forehead. The six arms are studded with large dark gray spikes and sport three-fingered dark gray claws plus gold rings at the wrists and bases. Its body is covered in purple fur tufts, and there's a large gold ring around its waist and another encircling a hole in its chest. The legs have purple stripes running down to the ankles—which are also ringed in gold—with upward-curling gold-tipped feet. It even has a tail with a purple stripe and an arrow-shaped tip. Hoopa Unbound ties with Mega Gyarados as the tallest Dark-type Pokémon.
Hoopa Unbound is considered Hoopa's true form and is packed with immense power. It can control and summon Legendary Pokémon, though there's a catch: when it uses rage to drive them berserk, it creates destructive space-time warps that can level entire areas. According to legend, it greedily teleported an entire castle from Kalos three thousand years ago just to get at some hidden treasure. It's even capable of teleporting entire islands through its portals. The power-up is temporary though—Hoopa can stay Unbound for three days before its energy seals back up and it reverts to Confined form.
Both forms can travel through Hoopa's rings, as shown in the anime.
