The Colonel founded the Golan organization and led it as a former Red Beret commando. He was skilled in unconventional combat—deadly boomerangs, the Nanto Muon Ken style—and had an almost supernatural ability to read opponents through subtle shifts in their eyes and body language.
Before the nuclear war, he was a true patriot. That changed when he saw his superiors celebrate nuclear power and revel in their authority, which shattered his faith in the system entirely. After surviving the apocalypse, the Colonel convinced his followers they'd been chosen by God to rebuild civilization as a superior master race that would correct humanity's past failures. It was a messianic vision that ultimately put him at odds with Kenshiro. In their fight, Kenshiro exploited the Colonel's reliance on reading his opponents by striking the Dōmei pressure point to blind him, then finished him with the Hokuto Kaikotsu Ken technique.
The anime took a different direction with his character. Due to censorship concerns, the writers repositioned the Colonel and his army as fanatical worshippers of Shin rather than an independent movement.
The 1986 movie reduced him to a minor role—just another of Shin's security detail. He doesn't last long in that version; Shin kills him when the Colonel gets distracted by Raoh's invasion and fails to prevent Yuria's escape.
