Yukichi
Yukichi is the main character of The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today. He's a black cat roughly the size of a human who shares an apartment with Saku.
What sets him apart is his intelligence—he walks upright, handles tools and appliances with ease, and picks up new skills quickly. He's got an impressive memory and takes genuine pride in his abilities, especially when it comes to cooking.
During the day while Saku's at work, Yukichi runs the household: he cooks, cleans, handles chores. He'll claim it's purely transactional—he sticks around because she feeds him—but anyone watching can tell he's genuinely attached to her. He worries about her wellbeing and actively supports her through whatever's bothering her that day.
