Maam is the daughter of Leyla and Loca—the priestess and warrior who fought alongside Avan against Hadlar way back. She trained under Avan herself and picked up healing magic naturally, but offensive spells never really clicked for her. To work around this limitation, Avan gave her a magical gun that could fire spells instead, which proved way more useful than trying to learn traditional magic (something Pop eventually mastered).
When the gun got destroyed, Maam made the call to pivot entirely—she left the party to train as a fighter under Brokeena, the legendary God of Martial Arts. That's where she really found her groove. Under Brokeena's training, she learned the refractor fist, one of her signature moves. It's basically an attack that replicates what happens when someone overuses Mahoimi on their body—essentially breaking down the opponent from the inside. Later on, she picked up a transforming armor weapon from Lon berk that let her pack even more power into her techniques.
