Diana's the third cat guardian to join the crew, though how she shows up depends on which version you're watching. In the manga, she pops up when the Senshi travel to the 30th century—turns out she's Luna and Artemis's kid, and she tags along back to the 20th century with them. The anime takes a different route: she doesn't appear until way later in SuperS, Episode 133, when she suddenly bolts out of the bushes, calls Artemis "Daddy," and nuzzles against him. Artemis is stunned, Luna loses it and literally scratches his face before storming off, and eventually everyone figures out Diana's actually from the future.
Like Luna and Artemis watch over Usagi and Minako, Diana's assigned to look after Chibiusa. She's curious, helpful, and pretty formal about everything—always throwing "-sama" at Usagi and Mamoru and calling Chibiusa by her official title, Small Lady. Despite being young, she manages to assist the Senshi now and then, mainly because she knows things from living in the future.
