Aerican Empire (Aerika) is a minor character in Hetalia: Axis Powers, first appearing in chapter 436 of World Stars Volume 6. He's the personification of a micronation founded in May 1987 with territories scattered across Canada, Australia, and several other locations—plus a Mars colony, half of Pluto, and a claim on the imaginary planet Verden.
Appearance & Presentation
Aerika's got a distinctive look: fluffy brown-red hair with bright red highlights and a single curly strand sticking up (fans often note the resemblance to Canada's design). His eyes are unusual, fading from red at the top to orange, and he wears rectangular glasses. He typically appears as a teenager in a dramatic black and red cloak with a military medal pinned to the left side, paired with a dark shirt featuring gold buttons and red accents, dark brown boots, and black gloves.
Personality
He's got a split personality depending on what he's wearing. In full costume, Aerika's loud, confident, and loves making a theatrical entrance—total supervillain energy. Out of costume in casual wear like a hoodie, he's much quieter and more reserved. Despite that dramatic first impression, his actual interactions in the series have been pretty chill: he's helped boost Hutt River's confidence and pitched in to clean up after a convention with Molossia.
What really sets him apart is how much he values imagination and fantasy. He believes everyone has access to an "unconquerable land" within themselves through imagination alone.
