Haruno is a gardener living in the countryside between Ecruteak City and Olivine City. She's best known for the episode "Turning Over a New Bayleef" (EP202), where she played a key role in helping Ash and his Bayleef work through their rocky relationship.
She found Bayleef unconscious by the riverbank while out picking wildflowers with her Machoke, and immediately took the Pokémon in. She nursed Bayleef back to health with warm soup and let it stay at her place while waiting for its trainer to show up. Bayleef settled in quickly, bonding with Haruno's other Pokémon.
When Ash arrived looking for his Bayleef, Haruno could tell right away that something was wrong between them. She let the whole group stay at her home so they could work things out. After watching Ash struggle to convince Bayleef to rejoin him, she gave him some advice: friendship takes time. That wisdom proved useful, especially after Team Rocket showed up with a Robo-Bayleef to steal her Pokémon. Ash managed to save them all, and Bayleef finally agreed to travel with him again.
