Count Pumpka's steward is a minor character from the episode "A Festival Trade! A Festival Farewell?" who works for the eccentric Count Pumpka.
The steward gets pulled into a messy mix-up after Team Rocket cons Count Pumpka. The count becomes obsessed with obtaining Jessie's Pumpkaboo, so the steward first approaches Team Rocket with an invitation to the castle for a meal. When Team Rocket later tricks the count into thinking Ash's Pikachu threatened Pumpkaboo, the steward is sent after Ash's group. He battles them briefly and manages to snag what he thinks is Pikachu—but it's actually Clemont's Chespin dressed in a Pumpkaboo costume. The mix-up sets off a chain reaction of chaos.
When Ash and friends storm the castle to get Chespin back, the steward refuses to believe them, convinced they're the villains. He has his Gourgeist attack, but the group's Pokémon quickly shut that down. Desperate, he activates a secret wall switch that traps them in a cage, though they manage to escape. Once Team Rocket gets blasted off and the truth comes out, the steward realizes his mistake and apologizes along with Count Pumpka. He even serves them dinner afterward, apparently making peace with the whole situation.
