A young spirit who first appears in the seventh episode of the first season after Natsume rescues him from a group of bullying yokai. Gentle and timid by nature, he's drawn to Natsume because Natsume treats him differently—refusing to take his name for the Book of Friends and offering friendship instead.
He visits Natsume regularly, though his inexperience as a spirit means he needs a special potion to assume human form for short periods. There are hints throughout the series that his mother has passed away, particularly in scenes where he speaks to what appears to be her grave.
