Morpeko is a small, round rodent Pokémon famous for its signature Hunger Switch Ability, which lets it flip between two completely different forms depending on how full its stomach is.
Both forms share the same basic build: stubby little arms and feet, a pair of pink circular cheek pouches, a tiny nose, and two almond-shaped ears with a single tuft of fur underneath. Its body has a two-tone color scheme with distinct fur patches covering the arms, ears, cheeks, and eyes that zigzag inward toward the face and stop at the waist. These patches double as seed pockets. Running along its back is a pattern that resembles a Pokéball, extending from the lower half of its body.
In Full Belly Mode, Morpeko's body is creamy yellow with black fur on the left side and brown on the right. Its eyes are round and black with huge white pupils, and it's got a single bucktooth sticking out from a cheerful grin. Switch to Hangry Mode, though, and the whole vibe changes—its body turns purple, its eyes become angry red crescents, and the brown fur on the right side turns black to match the left. The expression shifts to a constant angry snarl.
The reason for these dramatic swings comes down to food. Morpeko stuffs its cheek pouches with electrically roasted Berry seeds and treats them like treasure until it's time to snack. The catch is that generating electricity through those cheeks burns a ton of energy, making it perpetually hungry. Its tiny stomach means it needs to keep munching on its stored seeds just to stay satisfied. Skip the snacks, and it gets hungry *fast*—and that's when things get ugly. Prolonged hunger messes with Morpeko's hormones, triggering the form change and shifting the energy in its cheeks from Electric-type to Dark-type. In Hangry Mode, it becomes genuinely vicious, aggressive, and prone to causing trouble until it eats.
Interestingly, there's a catch to feeding it: once Morpeko is completely full, it'll refuse more food and will actually attack anyone who tries to force-feed it.
