Fiamma of the Right leads God's Right Seat and serves as the main antagonist on the magic side throughout the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novels. His name comes straight from the Italian word for flame.
He's essentially the undisputed top of the organization—the other members answer to him more than they do the Pope. What makes him dangerous isn't just his power, but the fact that he's willing to work around the Roman Catholic Church's authority entirely, leverage the entire Russian Orthodox Church for his goals, and openly declare war on Academy City if it suits him. Beneath that calm exterior is someone deeply manipulative and ambitious, willing to overstep constantly.
Fiamma's position is so central that he's basically said the organization would collapse without him. Sure, he could replace Acqua, Terra, or Vento if needed, but losing him means God's Right Seat is done for.
His main targets are Touma and Index. He wants Touma because he believes the kid's power is actually the Holy Right itself, and he's after Index for her knowledge of magic forms no one else can access. To make capturing Touma possible, Fiamma uses his standing as the current Pope's mentor to declare him a heretic, which gives him legal grounds to act.
Power-wise, he's legitimately terrifying. He can level most of Rome with a single attack—though the Pope managed to absorb about two-thirds of the blast to protect the city, which left them hospitalized and still resulted in significant Vatican damage.
