Yang Jinghua comes from a prestigious family line—his ancestors were exorcists who served the imperial court back in the day. That legacy doesn't mean much anymore, though. After losing both parents young, he grew up poor, scraping by with whatever work he could find: fortune-telling gigs and repairing computers on the side.
Everything changed on March 28, 2017, when he was out hunting for spare parts for his repair jobs. That's when he ran into Duanmu Xi—technically a second encounter, since he'd spotted the guy in a car once before. This time was different: Duanmu Xi was actively fighting an evil spirit. The shock came when Duanmu Xi realized Jinghua could actually see it. They went their separate ways after that, and Jinghua mostly brushed off the whole weird encounter.
