Izanami rules over Yomi-no-Kuni, the underworld realm where souls pass through on their way to rebirth. She's best known for a peculiar ability—she doesn't have a fixed form. Instead, she borrows the appearance of someone meaningful to whoever visits her, pulling from their memories. When Nanami came calling, Izanami took on the faces of Kayako and Ami.
She's Ookuninushi's grandmother, and frankly, she finds him exhausting. His antics seem to get on her nerves more often than not, though she clearly cares about the troublemaker.
