Rōshi became a jinchūriki while still young, sealed with the Four-Tailed Beast. He eventually left Iwagakure to find his own way of managing the beast's immense power rather than letting it consume him. The Four-Tails gave him access to Lava Release, a rare fusion of Fire and Earth jutsu that made him formidable in combat.
Things took a dark turn when Kisame Hoshigaki of the Akatsuki tracked him down and captured him. Like all jinchūriki hunted by the organization, Rōshi didn't survive the extraction of his beast—the process killed him.
