Beryl's dad ran the dojo before stepping back—though "stepping back" is generous since he basically just handed things off to Randrid Patrolrock and called it a day. The whole move was pretty calculated: he wanted Beryl to have a shot at the capital instead of getting stuck running the place forever. These days he's mostly known for bugging Beryl about grandkids.
