A para-volleyball player representing Japan, he's currently 32 years old and serves as team captain. He started out as a talented regular volleyball player before osteosarcoma forced the amputation of his left leg below the knee. Since then, he's switched to para-volleyball and typically competes with a prosthetic leg.
