Captain Marius is a weathered fisherman and ship captain who showed up in "Around the Whirlpool" (EP212). He's best known for piloting his vessel through the notoriously tricky Whirl Islands alongside Professor Elm during an expedition—a job that required serious navigation skills and local knowledge.
Elm clearly respects him a lot, though Marius tends to downplay his own expertise. He's the modest type who'd rather let his work speak for itself than brag about what he's accomplished over the years.
When Ash and friends got blasted off their ferry by Team Rocket, Marius and his crew pulled them out of the water without hesitation. He then docked at Inland City so the group could continue exploring the islands on their own terms.
