Subaru Sengoku (Hero Name: Mr. Black)
One of three rookies who debuted on Hero TV in N.C. 1980, Subaru's actually got some experience under his belt—he spent time working as a hero back home under the name Hello Goodbye before making the jump to the big stage. He aced Hero TV's recruitment exam, but don't mistake that for someone just happy to be there. At 17, he's already got strong opinions about what it takes to be a real hero and isn't shy about calling out the commercialized side of the whole operation. He wants to make a name for himself on his own terms, which sometimes puts him at odds with how the show actually runs.
His NEXT ability lets him generate barriers—solid enough to take a decent hit, though they look more like floating holograms than physical walls. It's a defensive power that plays to a more tactical style of heroics.
