Amaori Renako is basically a shut-in with some serious communication issues. Pretty much the opposite of a social butterfly. But then something wild happened during high school—she actually worked up the courage to approach Mai Oozuka, the most popular girl in school, and somehow ended up joining her friend group.
Things got awkward fast though. Mai developed feelings for Amaori and straight-up confessed, but Amaori wasn't having it. She wanted to keep things platonic, and that's where they've stayed. Despite her social anxiety, Amaori managed to build a real connection with Mai's crowd, even if she wasn't quite ready to reciprocate romantically.
