He's known as the Buddha of Healing and Medicine—basically, the spiritual doctor who treats dukkha, that existential suffering everyone deals with. His whole thing is that his teachings work like medicine to cure what ails you at a deeper level. Rather than physical ailments, he's addressing the root suffering of existence itself, which is why he earned the nickname in the first place.
