Watase (ワタセ, Watase) is a genin from Konohagakure with a bit of a stubborn streak. He's the ambitious type—the kind of kid who was frustrated about being too young to fight in the Fourth Shinobi World War and genuinely believed that real heroism came from what you accomplished in battle, not who you knew. He pointed to Naruto as proof that connections didn't matter anymore.
When Ebisu called a meeting, Watase was there kicking himself for not being born sooner. Later, when Konohamaru tried rallying the genin to defend the village, Watase told him to drop the act—which sparked a confrontation that got heated enough for Watase to actually pull a kunai. Before things could blow up further, they were separated.
Despite the friction, Watase stepped up when it mattered. He fought against the Sumo Wrestlers and afterward told Konohamaru he'd carry on the Will of Fire. He also joined a patrol group tasked with protecting different sectors of the village.
