Claire Redfield is best known as the protagonist of Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica, though she's become a recurring character across the entire franchise—games, films, and spinoff media alike.
She's Chris Redfield's younger sister. When Chris went missing after his work with S.T.A.R.S., Claire, then a college student, rode her motorcycle into Raccoon City to find him. Bad timing: she arrived just as the zombie outbreak was consuming the city. While fighting for survival, she discovered that Chris had already left the country to investigate Umbrella Corporation—the biotech company responsible for the T-Virus and, by extension, the whole nightmare. At least he was alive. From there, Claire's priority shifted to getting out of Raccoon City alive.
She eventually made it out and tracked Chris to Europe, where things got worse. Umbrella's forces captured her and held her prisoner on Rockfort Island. She escaped with fellow inmate Steve Burnside, but they were recaptured and ended up in an Umbrella facility in Antarctica. Chris found her there and helped her escape. The siblings have been fighting Umbrella ever since.
In the film series—which diverges significantly from the games—Claire takes a different path. She and Carlos Oliveira lead a convoy of survivors across the Nevada desert toward Alaska, teaming up with Alice, a superhuman T-Virus experiment, to fight back against Umbrella. The convoy makes it to Alaska. She also appears in Resident Evil: Afterlife.
