Yakov is a bright kid living in a small Siberian village near where Hyoga trains. He's basically Hyoga's right hand around the place—helping out with chores, keeping the cabin in decent shape, and generally making himself useful. The real weight of his responsibility comes when Hyoga's away on Saint business: Yakov becomes the caretaker of Natassia's eternal sleep, Hyoga's mother. It's a lot of responsibility for a young kid, but he takes it seriously.
