Akeno is a third-year at Kuou Academy and one of the school's famous "Two Great Onee-Samas" alongside Rias. She's widely known as the ultimate "Queen" among Rias' peerage. Born to a human mother and fallen angel father, she became Rias' servant after her mother's death—though the two are close enough that Akeno calls her by name in private while maintaining formal respect in public.
The mask and what's underneath
On the surface, Akeno embodies the ideal of a composed, elegant woman. In reality, she's a walking contradiction: graceful and gentle one moment, then brutally sadistic the next. In battle, she shows no mercy and barely hides her pleasure while dealing pain, all while keeping that serene smile plastered on. It's unsettling how well she can do both.
Her psychological damage runs deep. She watched her mother die in front of her and watched her father fail to save her—and she's never really gotten over it. That trauma created a hatred for Fallen Angels that extends to herself, making her despise her own heritage. She eventually severed ties with her father and went into hiding until Rias found her near death. Because of this, she empathizes with people like Issei and Asia, both victims of the fallen angel Raynare. When Issei told her he didn't care that she was half-fallen angel, it meant everything to her. With his support, she finally reconciled with her father and started healing from her mother's death.
Feelings for Issei
Akeno initially had zero interest in romance, but Issei changed that. She started seeing him as cute, and her interest exploded after watching him fight so hard during Rias' engagement ceremony—especially when he actually defeated Riser Phenex. She's been open about him being the first boy she's ever felt this way about.
She loves to tease him relentlessly, partly because it annoys Rias, which she finds hilarious. She's shamelessly flirty and doesn't apologize for it. Ironically, she's masochistic around Issei specifically—the complete opposite of how she acts in combat. Despite being seductive and always looking for chances to get closer to him, she genuinely helps him with Rias because she won't steal him away. She cares too much about both of them for that.
There's something almost innocent about how she acts around him on dates—she reverts to acting her actual age, all flustered and emotional about love. Yet she still flirts constantly. It's a weird mix, but it works for her. She gets jealous like anyone else and will absolutely fight for his attention.
The vulnerable side
Beneath her composed persona is someone who deeply depends on the people she cares about—mainly Issei and her father. When they're in danger, her mask slips completely. When Issei was hurt during the Sitri-Gremory Rating Game, she became noticeably tense. When he disappeared into the Dimensional Gap and was thought dead, she fell into depression. It's clear that underneath the seduction and sadism, she's someone who needs reassurance from the people she loves.
